To mark the impending festive season, Glasgow’s Attic Lights have teamed up with Cerys Matthews to produce some festive charity fun with the release of, ‘Santa's Girlfriend’, an exclusive digital Christmas single from the atticlights website now.

The band, who toured with Cerys and Paul Heaton earlier this year, were asked to do something for the Scottish Children's charity, Cash For Kids, the result being ‘Santa's Girlfriend’, a rockin' slice of West Coast (via the North Pole) guitar pop fun, featuring a sassy answering machine message from Saint Nick's lonely admirer.

The single will be Cerys’ first Christmas song outing since ‘Baby It's Cold Outside’ with Tom Jones.

Singer Colin McArdle said, "We were keen to do a Christmas single and with Cerys and Cash For Kids everything just fell into place”.

The 5-piece released their debut album, ‘Friday Night Lights’, on October 13th this year through Island Records. The ten-track album, recorded in Glasgow in the Autumn of 2007 with local man about town and drummer with local heroes Teenage Fanclub Francis Macdonald at the helm, features luscious string arrangements courtesy of Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn & John Fame.

The album was released to a flurry of astounding reviews including, “Rapturous melodic joy” (The Guardian) “Heavenly tunes” (NME) and “Blasphemous trash” (The Free Church Of Scotland).
