Alex Butler

On 10 January 2012, Alex Butler will release ‘F**k it She Will Do’ exclusively to fans able to download the exclusive ‘dirty version’ through his website in exchange for signing up to his mailing list. 'F**k It She Will do' will be followed by the release of his first EP, with the commercial lead track Turn, heading the charge.

Alex was plucked from obscurity earlier last year, whilst studying for his A-levels after sending a demo of two songs into Radio 1.

A few weeks later, whilst sitting in a history lesson his phone rang,'It was someone from Radio 1 telling me that Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac liked my music so much they had picked me to be the Up-and-Coming Artist on their show and they wanted to interview me' Alex explains, 'It was a real thrill listening to my songs being played on the radio to millions of listeners.'

Hailing from the musical mecca of Newcastle Upon Tyne, Alex Butler was originally torn between two careers. He could have run away to join the circus, like his acrobat grandma who taught him how to walk the tightrope.

Or he could concentrate on his music. It is the circus people's loss, and our good fortune, that the 20-year-old singer-songwriter chose music.

Alex Butler’s music taps into an English tradition that runs through the entire 50-year history of pop from The Kinks through to the Arctic Monkeys.

His songs sound instantly authentic and believable and are about real people and their real lives. 'If I had to narrow it down however, I’d say my main influences in music , and fashion, come from the 1960s,' says Alex, who listens to all his favourite music on vinyl.

His forthcoming debut set was produced by upcoming producer Tristan Ivemy (Frank Turner) and recorded at David Gray’s The Church studio in Crouch End and is set for an early 2012 release.
