Luke Sital-Singh, one of London’s most promising young talents, releases his highly anticipated ‘Old FIint’ EP on April 8th through Raygun Records.
Produced by Iain Archer (Jake Bugg) and Dave Lynch, the EP is an astonishingly accomplished collection of songs, which perfectly demonstrate Luke’s innate ability to capture the raw emotion of a moment, as he explains:
"Time and place are two reasons why songs can mean so much to me. These songs, although written over many years were all brought together at one time and in one place, an old flint barn in Sussex and I hope something of those homely old walls can be felt in the songs and in the singing"
Opening and lead track ‘Bottled Up Tight’ is the natural progression from 2012’s 'Fail For You', adding beautifully spacious piano arrangement to the delicacy of Luke’s guitar and vocals, building into a powerful, compelling track that bursts with the sentient intensity that Luke is fast making his impressive trademark.
‘Old Flint’ culminates with Luke putting his own, unique mark on the original poem ‘Dark’ by friend Martin Wroe and adapting it into an intricate and moving piano ballad; 'you are the deepening mystery / You are the cloud of unknowing when we ‘know-it-alls’, know it all.'
With Luke’s first EP having received huge support across Radio One, BBC 6 Music and XFM from a never ending list of tastemakers including Huw Stephens, Fearne Cotton, Phil Taggart, Steve Lamacq, Rob Da Bank and Dermot O’Leary, this second offering really showcases a young songwriter coming into his own and is guaranteed to earn him yet more critical acclaim and new fans in anyone who listens.
