Please allow me to introduce Ed Vallance - a London-born musician living in Brooklyn and working his way round as one does as an Englishman in New York.
Building on a local following Ed releases his intoxicating sophomore album Volcano on 9th April through Proof Records, worldwide.
Drawing comparisons as wide vocally to Talk Talk and Thom Yorke, Ed strikes a wonderfully unique vocal and certainly knows how to craft a melody and a word or two.
Volcano is a maelstrom of lush harmonies, brittle drums and ravishing guitar pyrotechnics. The album was recorded with the guidance of veteran producer Mark Ephraim (New Pornographers, Joan As Policewoman, Dirty On Purpose) and is a swift left turn from the acoustic indie-folk of 2008's debut The Modern Life.
Volcano sits incongruously, but confidently, in mainstream pop. The first single is the eerie and hypnotic "Crystalline" with an accompanying video from LA-based director Andreas Trollf (Papercuts, Datarock). A UK tour is planned for March - dates to be announced.
