Tinashé releases his second EP ‘Zambezi’ on June 14th on Mango Records. Written and produced by this multi-talented 25 year old, “Zambezi’ encapsulates all the excitement Tinashé delivers live.
Tinashé, born in Zimbabwe but now a Hackney resident, has spent much of 2010 delivering knock out live shows all over London, supporting the likes of Ellie Goulding, Marina & The Diamonds & The Noisettes.
The Sunday Times Culture described Tinashé as “a human dynamo fizzing with ideas, forging hybrids and forcing prolix street poetry into retro-soul, Afrobeat-inflected disco and modern urban-pop formats.”
“Zambezi EP’ follows his acclaimed ‘MayDay’ EP. It spins the story of a doomed relationship using the war for Zimbabwe’s liberation from Rhodesia as a backdrop.“I found it really tragic, but romantic,” Tinashé says of his inspiration for this uplifting track taken from a debut album to be released this later this year.
The EP includes mixes by Fools Gold & Body Language plus a collaboration with Seiji.
Tinashe’s debut album will be released in August.
