Following the release of three successful singles (Turning Green, Bubbles and Jekyll & Hyde) over the last year, it is now time to enjoy the debut album from the Conspirators ‘What’s Going On’.
Defenders of the Brit Pop faith, The Conspirators have worked with and collaborated with such Brit Pop pioneers as Andy Miller from Dodgy and Glenn Johansson of Echobelly.
Along with shows supporting Ocean Colour Scene, Goldie Looking Chain and Keith Allen it has been a busy period for the band that has enhanced their reputation.
From the folk pop guitars of the opening track ‘All That They Told Me’, through the infectious vocals of Genevieve Gillies on the sing along Jekyll & Hyde (a single from earlier this year) to the quirky ‘Bubbles’ (co written by Andy Miller), this album has great tune after great tune.
Title track ‘What’s Going On’ is almost reminiscent of the Martha & The Muffins classic ‘Echo Beach’ with its haunting saxophone.
‘What’s Going On’ is an album that would sit happily in any fan of classic British Indie pop’s record collection. In fact, it is a must have for this year!
