Take That announced the title and release date of their new album today. The long awaited follow-up to the nine times platinum Beautiful World album has been revealed as The Circus and will be released on December 1st through Polydor Records.

The band will also release a new single Greatest Day the week prior to this on November 24th. Greatest Day was written by Mark Owen, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Gary Barlow and was produced by John Shanks.

The song was written and recorded at SARM studios in Notting Hill and was mixed in Los Angeles at the Jim Henson Studios. The song will be receiving its first airing on UK national radio at 8.15am on Monday October 13th.

The video for Greatest Day was filmed on location in Los Angeles on top of a 60 storey building in the downtown area. It was directed by Meiert Avis (who’s previously shot videos for U2, Damian Rice, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan).

Take That’s last album Beautiful World sold more than two and half million copies in the UK, making it their most successful record to date.

Since reclaiming their place as Britain’s best loved band Take That have won a string of prestigious awards including an Ivor Novello for single Shine with Mark Owen on lead vocals, and three Brit Awards: Best Single (2007) for Patience, Best Single (2008) for Shine and Best Live Act (2008).

Their last two tours sold just short of a million tickets and the live DVDs they released in the wake of both were the biggest selling music titles of 2006 (The Ultimate Tour) and 2007 (Beautiful World Live).
