Ramin is unquestionably one of musical theatre's modern greats. He has been critically acclaimed as one of, if not the, greatest Phantom for his display in the 25th Anniversary Concert of Phantom of The Opera at The Royal Albert Hall and has received several Best Actor awards plus a prestigious Olivier Award nomination.
He is now taking on the lead role of Jean Valjean in Cameron Mackintosh’s West End production of Les Misérables and releases his debut album ‘Ramin’ on March 5th - out on Sony Music.
On this album you can hear Ramin’s passion, his rawness, and his ability not only to write a song, but to interpret a familiar one in an entirely new way.
His voice is amazing - a thing of natural wonder, but while it can often blow the roof off, it can also, crucially, do understatement as well.
On the set list is Ramin’s version of Music of the Night, and you struggle to recall the Phantom of the Opera original, so seamlessly does he make it his own. The same can be said for his treatment of Bryan Adams' Everything I Do (I Do It For You).
A rock fan, too, he has given Muse’s Guiding Light a stunning new interpretation, and co-writes four tracks here as well as recording brand new material from songwriting heavyweights like Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis’ Bleeding Love).
"I always wanted to record my own album," he says. "I'm so glad I now have." His legion of fans, and there are many, will undoubtedly think likewise.
