After 14 years away, the world’s favourite boy band New Kids of The Block finally return with their much-awaited Greatest Hits album followed by a brand new album in September.

Yes, that’s right – Donnie, Danny, Jordan, Jon and Joe are back to bring their best and most loved smash hits together on one complete album. Hailing from the streets of Boston, the band went their separate ways in 1994 after many years of international success.

With over 70 million albums sold worldwide and five multi platinum albums, New Kids On The Block are one of the best selling pop acts of all time. They influenced a generation and paved the way for future boy bands.

Back in 1984, the seeds of New Kids On The Block were sown by producer, songwriter and manager Maurice Starr. Five American teens made it through the auditions – Jon Knight (15), his brother Jordan (14), Donnie Wahlberg (15), Danny Wood (15) and Joey McIntyre (11 at the time).

Their chemistry was undeniable and instantly the band was destined for big success. The boys arrived on the music scene in 1986 with their self-titled debut album. After a string of hits they returned to the studio in 1988 to record a second album – Hangin’ Tough - under Columbia.

New Kids made history when the album and single “Hangin’ Tough” simultaneously took over the number one chart spots. They became the first ‘teen’ group in history to ever achieve four Top 10 hits from one album. One week later the incredible chart run which, totalled more than 15 months, again made history when the album’s fifth hit “Cover Girl” reached number two.

In all, Hangin’ tough spent 132 weeks (more than two and a half years) in the charts. The success of the release also overlapped the band’s third album Step By Step, which again saw the album and the same titled single simultaneously at number one in the charts. All three albums went multi platinum and the band quickly enjoyed huge worldwide success.

With a string of consecutive Top 10 hits on both sides of the Atlantic, five of which certified RIAA gold and platinum in the US and three were number one smashes, The Greatest Hits is sure to please the millions of avid New Kids On The Block fans.

Remastered for the first time in a decade, with new liner notes written by ‘Rolling Stone’ contributing editor David Wild, and Jason Nevins’ closing track “2008 New Kids On The Block Mega Mix”, the album features a smash hit track listing which includes favourites like “Please Don’t Go Girl”, “You Got It (The Right Stuff)”, “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)”, “Hangin’ Tough”, “Cover Girl, “Step By Step”, and “Tonight”. There are also rarities, well chosen album tracks and solo projects - all of which commemorate their reunion this year.

The album is released to coincide with the band’s much awaited come back tour, which travels worldwide starting in America in September 2008 and travelling to the UK in 2009. Full details and dates will be announced soon.
