Israeli maestro Geva Alon is proud to announce his forthcoming fourth album ‘In The Morning Light’, released through 2B Vibes Music/ADA Global on July 16th. An immersive and alluring collection of tracks, ‘In The Morning Light’ showcases Geva as hugely compelling songwriter and virtuosic guitarist.
Produced by the acclaimed Thom Monahan, whose previous works include albums by Devendra Banhart, Vetiver and Beachwood Sparks, the album’s roots are in indie-rock, with elements of Americana, hazy psychedelia and alternative folk.
First single and album opener ‘The Great Enlightenment’ evokes the vocal approach of Nick Drake with a nod to newer acts including Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses. Followed by ‘I See The Love’, with its hints of Americana and the bluesy ‘Carolina’, the album ably proves Geva’s diversity as a songwriter.
The expansive, yet subtly arranged ‘Grey Herons’ is a delicate and stirring folk tinged track; the chorus of which gives the album its title. Closing with the introspective ‘Rock All Night’, the album highlights a variety of aspects to Geva’s personality and songwriting prowess, whilst remaining a complete and cohesive body of work by a songwriter in his prime.
‘In The Morning Light’ features the talents of Otto Hauser Daniel Hindman of Vetiver and Rufus Wainwright’s bassist Jeff Hill. Already a huge name in his native Israel, Geva Alon has performed alongside the likes of Paul Weller and Yo La Tengo and performed in front over 100,000 people in Rabin’s square in Tel Aviv as part of Earth Day. In 2012 Geva has also toured Spain and Israel alongside Jairo Zavala (Depedro) from Calexico.
Geva’s accomplished lyrical imagery, combined with his clear musicality arguably make ‘In The Morning Light’ his most confident and consistent full-length release. Geva will return to the UK to play the following dates.
