‘Angel eyes are pure’ is an album that started as a little experiment which ended up being a 4 year obsession for Emotan. The song was mastered by Frankford Wayne in New York and in 2007 Emotan first started working on her album, in her studio in Lagos.
During this time she worked with pro guitarist Chris Yakubu who became the chief engineer for her label, Phine Entertainment LTD. Soon after, she decided to move to the US, where she worked at Madd Badd Studio in New Jersey.
This is where she ended up meeting a talented engineer, Jack B. After having worked with Jack B they did a remix together of the track. The track was mastered by Greg Reierson from rare form mastering.
'The song Angel Eyes was inspired by a dream and was originally a jazzy soul tune. It reflects my feelings about love, it started as a love song between me and my God...I say mine...
'Because I feel that spirituality is a very personal thing...
Sometimes, I feel so holy and other times I'm so far from sainthood.
In the end, love is a spirit that you choose... it comes and goes as it pleases.
Once you tasted the high of being in a state of spiritual love, it's difficult to forget.'
The album was release in 2008 but unfortunately due to personal reasons she was unable to travel in order to promote the album.
Emotan moved back to the UK the next year and since then has decided to remix the album to cater to the present market.
In the new album he worked with Danny Argent of Danny beats and Chris Gehringer of Sterling Sound in New York where they have mixed African beats with strong electronic sounds.
