'June Bug' is the third solo LP from East London emcee/producer and one fourth of The Colony Cons... also known as Conspicuous. Cons has returned with a 12 track LP to follow up 2007's highly acclaimed "The Family Photo Album". This time opting to hand over all production credits to some UK heavyweight beatmakers such as AH fly, Apollo, Evil Ed, Apatight, S.Chu, M-Dot, Shears and S-Type, Cons has continued the soulful theme that has been the foundation of his previous work.
Cons has released 3 videos from the LP onto YouTube so far. "Human Race" is a narrative look into the characteristics that make us who we are produced by AH Fly (Universal Soldiers) and directed by Greg Wales. "Pain & Misery", a double time soulful introspective song that puts things into perspective produced by Shears and directed by Huw Caddy. Finally the banger that is "I'm So 90's", the flashback driven summer anthem that got exposure and support on BBC 1Xtra by DJ Semtex, Twin B and Charlie Sloth. This Hip-Hop anthem produced by S.Chu (Kano, Mitchell Bros, Shaun Escoffery) had a superb video directed by Nick Norton.
Also included on the CD as bonus tracks are the four different remix versions of 'I'm So 90's' featuring an immense line up of UK talent such as Kyza, Skillit, Shameless, Tor, Tempa, Lady Leshurr, No Lay, Malik, Tony D, TB, Remus, Cobane and Seanie T (videos also on YouTube). The forthcoming video "Clarity" features the vocal talents of Spoonface best known for his 2000 number 1 hit with Black Legend entitled 'The Trouble With Me'. Other featured guests include award winning poet Michael Groce, fellow Colony Member Grimlok, Kissez, Mr Ego, Jay Michaelz and Jay Pearce Cunningham.
The sound of the summer begins with the opening track "Can't get away" and finishes with "Echoes". Honest lyricism, soulful beats and catchy hook let summer 2011 commence.
