On her new single ‘All I Want’, Sarah Blasko channels the spirit of Ennio Morricone for a hauntingly sad number that “explores the wilderness of the heart, the inherent loneliness in us all and the search to know ourselves at all costs”.
Described as “beautifully adorned,” the song relies solely on acoustic instruments and, of course, Sarah’s impassioned vocals, sweet and delicate yet at the same time strong enough to lend emotional weight to the words.
‘All I Want’ is taken from the album ‘As Day Follows Night’, which Sarah recorded in Sweden with Björn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn & John. Armed with the demos that would shape her third album, the pair set about crafting a gorgeous acoustic record that is miles away from your typical singer/songwriter fare – Sarah’s otherworldly voice is a perfect complement to the organic tones that Yttling burnished the songs with.
Released in Australia in July 2009, ‘As Day Follows Night’ was voted Album of the Year by Triple J Radio, while Sarah was nominated for an impressive five ARIAs, winning for Best Female.
For 2010, Sarah has relocated to London. “I’ve wanted to have my music out here for a long time” she says, “I’ve always known it was possible, but I’m a big believer in things happening at the right time. With this album, everything seems to have slotted in to place and the timing feels perfect.”
