Kesha 8 Weeks At No1
Ke$Ha Is Rare Company As She Scores An Eighth Week At Number One
Party-loving pop star Ke$ha can add U.S. chart record holder to her resume after landing an eighth week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
Her run at number one with TiK ToK marks the first time a female artist has held the top spot for eight weeks since Debby Boone hit the heights of the chart with You Light Up My Life in 1977.
Boone went on to spend 10 weeks on top.
The Black Eyed Peas, who broke records with their 26-week run atop the charts last year (09), are back in the top three as Imma Be jumps from four to two, and Lady Antebellum become the first country group since Lonestar in 2000 to crack the Hot 100 top three at three with Need You Now.
Pink scores the chart's highest debut at 18 thanks in part to her breathtaking performance of Glitter in the Air at the Grammy Awards last month (31Jan10).
The singer sang the song while spinning high above the audience at the ceremony on a trapeze.
Meanwhile in related news Ke$Ha's Hollywood Sign Stunt Was A Hoax A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has confirmed KE$HA's claim to have vandalised the famous Hollywood sign was a hoax.
The pop star released an internet video last week (beg01Feb10) which appeared to show her defacing the L.A. landmark with a group of friends, throwing spray-painted bedsheets across the large white letters to spell out 'Ke$hawood'.
Ke$ha insisted the joke was real in a post on Twitter.com, stating, "HwOOD $IgN I$ oFFiciaLLY My bIZnatCH!(sic) Look at the sign LA!"
But a spokesperson for the LAPD tells Life & Style magazine, "If someone had seen the Hollywood sign (being) vandalised, it would have been called in to the LAPD, but we never received a call."
