Katy Perry has abandoned her trademark battle against the Australian fashion designer who shares her name - just one hour before the case was due in court.
Clothing maker Katie Perry, also known as Katie Howell, accused the singer's lawyers of ordering her to cease trading and withdraw her application to use their shared name on all her goods.
The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker acknowledged the feud in a post on her website, explaining she didn't plan to take legal action over the issue but her management insisted on filing a trademark protection order in the country.
Now the pop star has decided to drop the case an hour before it was due to be heard by a judge in Canberra, Australia. Katie Perry says, "I went to sleep last night worrying about this case and whether I was going to lose my business and now all that has changed.
"Physically and mentally it's taken a huge toll. I've learnt a lot of lessons through this - mostly to stick to my guns. I still have to work tonight but I think I'll find time for a glass of champagne as well."
