Jessica Simpson has become the latest celebrity to get a telling off by animal rights campaigners in PETA, this time over her desire to adopt a pig.

The animal charity, who frequently sound off over celebrities doing this or that to animals, are angry because they reckon Jessica doesn’t want a pig to care for and look after like a pet, but that she want to flaunt pets as her "latest accessory".

The blonde songstress was left devastated last year when her beloved dog Daisy went missing, seemingly snatched by a coyote, and confessed she wanted another pet to dote on, so she took to her Twitter page on Monday and told her followers, "I'm thinking about getting a pet pig. Does this mean I'll have to give up pork?"

But activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were quick to jump on the bandwagon and have hit out at Simpson for considering owning the farm pet.

A PETA spokesperson said; "Pigs, who are smarter than dogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don't belong in Jessica's stomach or carted around as her latest accessory."

The comments come just months after Paris Hilton was slammed by PETA chiefs for adopting a pot bellied pig, so, if we want to look after an animal that isn’t your standard cat or dog, could we get in trouble from PETA?
