âTrains and Winter Rainsâ is confirmed to be the first single to be taken from Enyaâs seventh studio album âAnd Winter Cameâ. The latest instalment in a phenomenally successful career that has encompassed 70 million album sales and four Grammy Awards, âTrains and Winter Rainsâ will be released on November 10th on Warner Bros Records.
Certain to warm hearts around the world with its dramatic orchestration, âTrains and Winter Rainsâ will be available on CD and digital download formats. The singleâs parent album âAnd Winter Cameâ will also be released on November 10th.
Two years in the making, âAnd Winter Cameâ was recorded at Aigle Studios near Dublin. Once again the result of Enyaâs longstanding creative triumvirate alongside producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan, âAnd Winter Cameâ was originally envisioned as a Christmas themed album. As recording progressed, it became apparent that a broader seasonal theme had emerged; beguiling songs such âTrains and Winter Rainsâ sit comfortably alongside the festive âJourney of the Angelsâ.
âAnd Winter Cameâ is the latest release in a catalogue of work that has seen Enya sell 70 million albums. Each album since âWatermarkâ has been a multi-million selling release: âShepherd Moonsâ, âThe Memory of Treesâ, âA Day Without Rainâ, âAmarantineâ and the compilation âPaint The Sky With Starsâ have all ensured that Enya is one of the worldâs biggest selling female solo artists. âA Day Without Rainâ earned multi-Platinum status in ten countries and made Enya the worldâs biggest selling artist in 2001.
Enyaâs musical creativity has also yielded continued recognition from a number of the worldâs most authoritative awards organisations. She has collected four Grammy Awards for âShepherd Moonsâ, âThe Memory of Treesâ, âA Day Without Rainâ and âAmarantineâ, as well as three World Music Awards in 2002.
Enya has also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Song Written For A Motion Picture, both in conjunction with her musical partners Nicky and Roma Ryan for the song âMay It Beâ, which was written and recorded for âLord Of The Rings â The Fellowship Of The Ringâ at the personal request of director Peter Jackson. âMay It Beâ also won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for Best Song and was also nominated for a Hollywood Golden Globe Award.
