Mumford & Sons' Ted Dwane will not be "head-banging" following his brain surgery.

The 28-year-old bassist, who began feeling ill on May 31 at the end of a gig at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California, joked that it is all about his hips since his emergency surgery.

Quizzed on whether thrashing his head around while on stage caused his injury, he said: "I'm not sure, but it happened during a gig so... I don't know. I just got a bit overexcited."

The musician insists he is "definitely" going to "cool it" with the vigorous head movements now, however.

He told Q magazine: "You'll notice today it's all in the hips."

Ted - who had emergency surgery in July after a scan revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain - was high on pain relief medication Morphine when he had the procedure, and consequently, he was the less stressed than the rest of the band, whose headline slot at annual music festival Glastonbury was under jeopardy due to the medical issue.

He added: "But it's funny when it's you. I was on Morphine, to be honest. I was probably the most relaxed."
