Stevie Wonder is making a gospel album in tribute to his mother.
The 'Superstition' hitmaker will pay his respects to Lula Mae Hardaway - who died in 2006, aged 76 - on 'Gospel Inspired By Lula', one of three projects he currently has in the pipeline.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: "[It's] a gospel album I'm doing in tribute to my mother.
"I promised her I would do it. She always wanted me to do it before she passed away, the untimely passing away. We've been working on some songs and some ideas."
When Stevie was four, Lula left her abusive husband to raise him and his five siblings alone in Detroit, where the young singer and songwriter was discovered.
During his early career Lula helped him to write songs, including 'I Was Made to Love Her' and 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours'.
Explaining more about his plans for the album, Stevie said: "We're going to do some traditional gospel stuff, but I'm thinking about doing a gospel song in Arabic.
"I'm going to twist it all up in different ways, because I think everyone needs to hear the word of the gospel. The word of gospel really is love."
Stevie, 63, is also working on an album called 'Ten Billion Hearts' and another called 'When the World Began', which sees him team with classical arranger and composer David Foster.
Of the latter he said: "It is a lot of things that I have done, old material, but doing it a different way. I'm going to do about three or four new songs as well. We did 'Isn't She Lovely' with the orchestra and I wrote another verse to it. And we did 'I Just Called to Say I Love You' - myself and Take 6 with the orchestra. I'm really excited about it."
