Robin Thicke decided to make an upbeat album after becoming bored with his "depressing bulls**t" music.
The 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker - who has sold nearly one million copies of the catchy track in the UK alone - has penned some cheerful tunes for his latest album of the same name after deciding people had heard enough miserable music.
Robin - who married his long time girlfriend Paula Patton in 2005 - said: "It's a summer party album all the way and the most fun and happiest one I've ever made.
"I always wanted to be respected as an artist. As I got older, I didn't want to hear my own depressing bulls**t any more, I just wanted to hear some fun music I could dance with my wife to."
The 35-year-old star teamed up with will.i.am to co-write his album and is grateful to the 'Scream and Shout' hitmaker for giving him additional inspiration to create some fun tracks.
He added to the Daily Star newspaper: "will is a super-crazy genius. He's one of those Michael Jackson-type people who wants everyone to love the song. will thinks about coming up with a song or chorus that everybody can sing along with and dance to.
"He's like, 'We're going to make the biggest album in the world.' It was good for me to be around that."
