Haim recorded a song which sounded like Michael Jackson's 'The Way You Make Me Feel' for their debut.
The 'Don't Save Me' band have just completed their first album, 'Days Are Gone', and experimented with a number of different styles in the studio, although when a track started to sound like the late 'King of Pop's 1987 hit, they knew they had gone too far.
Producer Ariel Rechtshaid said: "To make them sound like [commercial pop] would be a disservice to their talent. Danielle's one of the sickest drummers I've ever worked with. And yeah, there were moments where we accidentally went too far and thought, 'holy s**t! Does this really sound like Michael Jackson's 'The Way You Make Me Feel?' "
Ariel also praised the three sisters who make up the band, Este, Alana and Danielle, for their work ethic.
He added to NME magazine: "They're literally the hardest working band ever. The hours they're pulling straight off the plane to the studio, working on the phone in Australia with me... Nobody was sleeping, but we were working together."
'Days Are Gone' is released on September 30.
