I needed to spend more time with friends and family, otherwise I'd turn into a robot
Simian Mobile Disco's new single sounds like a "creepy N'Sync".
The dance duo drafted in Yeasayer singer Chris Keating to provide vocals on 'Audacity of Huge' and believe the finished track - which is about a materialist who struggles to get the girl of his dream - sounds like a distorted version of the American boy band.
Band member Jas Shaw explained: "I've been to a few Yeasayer concerts and I like there records, so wasn't expecting that. 'Going for a creepy N'Sync vibe' was his quote. We had to send it back and forth a few times before we got our heads around it."
As well as working on their own music, Jas and his bandmate James Ford also produce records for other people, and James admits he has had to reduce his workload as he feared turning "into a robot".
He explained: "I found myself only doing half a record, which is quite frustrating because, when you get involved in something, you want to see it to its conclusion.
"And after three years of constantly filling every day with production, touring or whatever, I was going crazy. I needed to spend more time with friends and family, otherwise I'd turn into a robot."
