The former One Direction singer reached the top spot over the weekend with 'Mind of Mine' and also became the first male UK artist to reach number one with a first album since George Michael's 1988 record 'Faith'.

According to Billboard, Zayn is the first UK act to debut at number one with a first album since One Direction released their 2012 chart-topper 'Up All Night'.

And he joins a select group of artists who have achieved a number one with both a group and solo release.

Just hours after discovering he had reached the top spot in the US, Zayn took to the stage to perform at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (03.04.16).

The 23-year-old singer wowed the crowd at the Forum in Inglewood with a performance of 'Like I Would'.

It's been one success after another for Zayn since he shocked fans by quitting One Direction in March 2015.

'Mind of Mine' peaked at number one in 83 countries on the iTunes chart within days of its release, exactly a year to the day he left the boy band.

The lead single 'PiLlOw TalK' from the record topped the charts in 60 countries worldwide and the video features his girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
