Zayn Malik has reached the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with his debut solo single 'PILLOWTALK' - a feat never accomplished by the boyband he was once a part of, One Direction.
Going by ZAYN, the singer is the very first British artist to land on top of the charts in the US with their debut single.
Later today (February 9), the full Billboard singles chart will be revealed with sales figures for the entire week.
The track also sits atop the Digital Songs and Streaming Songs charts, with 267,000 first week US downloads and 22.3 million US streams - the fourth largest streaming start of all time - in the week ending February 4 according to Nielsen Music.
This comes after the song became the fastest selling single of 2016 so far in the UK, with sales of 112,000 in its first week alone landing it comfortably on top of the UK charts.
Following scheduling clashes that forced him to back out of a debut television appearance on The Graham Norton Show earlier this year, Zayn will now make his first performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 17.
'PILLOWTALK' is the lead single from forthcoming debut solo album 'Mind Of Mine', due for release on March 25 - the one year anniversary of his One Direction departure.
