Zayn Malik revealed his debut solo record artwork to the world this week, but came under fire from some who compared it to album artwork used in the past by rappers such as Lil Wayne.
His cover features an image of himself as a child, smiling into the camera whilst photo-editing software has been used to add tattoos to baby Zayn's arms and hands.
Though he was criticised, he implored people to "use your brain" when looking at the cover, and to "appreciate art".
Taking to Twitter, he wrote:
The drama is just another bump in the road for Zayn's solo career, with the singer cancelling television and radio show performances following the release of his debut solo single 'PILLOWTALK'.
What's for certain though is that 'PILLOWTALK' was a huge hit, going in at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and also reaching the top spot in the UK's Top 40.
Debut solo record 'Mind Of Mine' is scheduled for release on March 25 - the anniversary of Zayn's decision to leave One Direction.
