Vic Reeves is to lead a One Direction tribute band in aid of Comic Relief, being joined by fellow comedy stars Johnny Vegas, Jack Dee, Patrick Kielty and Nick Helm in a spoof band called No Direction.

Making their debut on Red Nose Day, the group will give their own rendition of One Direction's 'Best Song Ever' during the charity's BBC One broadcast.

Stepping into the role of Harry Styles, Vic will be joined by Jack as Louis Tomlinson, Patrick as Niall Horan, Nick as Zayn Malik and Johnny as Liam Payne.

The real band have given their blessing to the comedy act and have said they're "gutted" they're not going to be able to attend the event on the night to give their support, due to prior touring commitments in Asia.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, a source explained: "The band think it's a great laugh and know it will raise a huge amount of money for those less fortunate than them... The boys are gutted they can't cheer on the band but they'll be watching - and judging - their efforts."

No Direction have spent all week busy in rehearsals as they come together in the hopes of mastering a complicated dance routine as well as perfecting the individual style of each band member.

Jack Dee said: "I'm most looking forward to expressing myself through the medium of dance and music, and seeing the audience in a state of absolute astonishment at what we do."

Nick Helm said: "I can sing and I can dance. But I'm not very good at singing and dancing at the same time."

Patrick Kielty said: "I can't wait to play Niall. I'm playing the most good looking and popular Irish man in the world. What could be better?"

Vic Reeves said: "We've all been rehearsing, singing and dancing. I can confirm that we are all born to do it."

Johnny Vegas said: "The best part about being in No Direction is my fellow band members. Each one of us pushes the other to go that extra mile, because we all really want this."
