U2 have released their first new album in five years - 'Songs of Innocence' - and it's available for free instantly to every iTunes user.

Accessing the album is simple - just go into your library and look under the artist or album tab. Utilising iCloud, they've managed to secretly send it to every single user on the planet.

The move came after Apple announced their new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as their first Apple Watch in a much-anticipated event yesterday.

As longtime Apple affiliates, U2 were expected to play the event, but managed to take fans and even critics by surprise leaving some excited, some bewildered and some even annoyed.

The album will still get a traditional release later in the year, on October 14.
