Tyler, the Creator has addressed an ex-fan's criticism with a lengthy response in defence of his new music and sound.
Prompted by a Reddit user's post titled 'I'm done with Tyler', they claimed in the message that the rapper is now no longer relatable.
It accused Tyler of "sneak-dissing" Earl Sweatshirt and Kendrick Lamar, stating that the lyrics the rapper comes up with in his new material now have "no substance".
The fan writes: "I related to him rapping about his life and feeling depressed because he was stuck in a house arguing with his grandma or about girl trouble."
Reacting to the harsh words, Tyler denied that the focus of his new songs is on "jewels or cars", adding that his life changing meant that his music has followed.
He wrote: "I don't know what to tell you, my life is in a different spot right now and like on every album, I talk about what's going on in my life AT THAT MOMENT.
"Why can't I share my joy with the world? Ohhh, it was cool when I was raping girls and telling you how sad I was on records, but when s**t changes and I'm feeling great and I f**k with myself you can't deal with it? 'cause you can't relate?"
Tyler continued: "Soooo sorry that I've turned into the guy I hated (IDK if that's true but that what y'all thing, I have not worn leather pants or been to the club ha) sorry ofr being me, I apologise in advance 'cause I'M GONNA CONTINUE TO DO THAT FOREVER".
