Twitter has become a massive force over the last few years in the world of music, with artists now allowing artists to reach out across the world and engage with fans directly in a way that no social network really has before.
Now they’ve launched a whole new application in the form of #music, which will recommend its users music depending on who they follow on Twitter, see what artists are rising quickly on the site as well as let you see what your friends have been listening to in order to get even more music into your life.
Potentially, the app opens up massive potential for new music exposure, with fans even able to see what their idols have been listening too before they can crow about it themselves. For small but critically adored artists, this could prove a vital factor in their growth.
The news has been expected for a week now following Ryan Seacrest tweeting about the new app and the news that Twitter had purchased music discovery company We Are Hunted.
As of yet the app is only available for iOS devices and as a web based service, with word on Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone versions not coming.
