The Last Shadow Puppets have beaten out heavy competition such as David Bowie to earn the award for the best album artwork of 2016 from Art Vinyl, for the artwork on their second studio album ‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect’.
The group were shortlisted alongside the likes of Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’ and Parquet Courts’ ‘Human Performance’, as well as Justice’s ‘Woman’ and The Avalanches’ ‘Wildflower’.
The winning cover art featured a 1969 image of Tina Turner and followed in the footsteps of last year’s winner, ‘Rattle That Lock’ by David Gilmour.
The win comes just a week after it was revealed sales of vinyl records had hit a new 25-year high. It was revealed that Bowie topped 2016 vinyl sales with 'Blackstar', whilst the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Amy Winehouse and even the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack helped round out the top 10 vinyl sales list.
