Sting is to receive the BMI Icon prize at this year's BMI London Awards.

The 64-year-old music legend is being recognised for his incredible career which has spanned four decades and seen him achieve global chart success with his band The Police and as a solo artist.
Sting follows in the footsteps of an elite group of songwriters who have received BMI's highest honour for their "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers".
Previous honourees include last year's winner Icon Graham Gouldman, Sir Tim Rice, Queen, Ray Davies, Van Morrison and Bryan Ferry.
Revealing why Sting has been chosen as the 2016 recipient of the accolade, Brandon Bakshi - BMI Executive Director of Writer/Publisher Relations for Europe and Asia - said: "Sting is an icon in the truest sense of the word. His musical catalogue has had an enormous impact on music lovers from around the globe across multiple generations, We are extremely proud and honoured to name Sting as our BMI Icon not only for his work as a songwriter but also for his contributions as a composer, actor, author, activist and humanitarian."
The BMI London Awards takes place at London's Dorchester Hotel on October 10, 2016, and will be hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O'Neill.
The annual event will also recognise the work of UK and European songwriters and publishers of the past year's most-performed songs on US radio and television from BMI's repertoire of nearly 12 million musical works.
