Elton John

Sir Elton John is now earning a whopping $550,000 (£330,750) for each show her performs in Las Vegas.

The 67-year-old musician started his ninth leg of the Million Dollar Piano residency at The Colosseum, Caesars Palace last week and is reported to be taking home 88% of all ticket sales.

TMZ reports that Elton has to sign off on all ticket prices, which range from $55 (£36) to $1,000 (£662) in the 4,926 seated arena, meaning he's able to self-increase the amount he earns.

These huge sums mean Elton's now become the highest-earning musician per show in Las Vegas history, overtaking Britney Spears.

She is said to be earning $475,000 (£314,220) per show, less than Elton even though her residency at Planet Hollywood has more seats at 4,600.

Those paying the sum to see Elton perform are treated to an 18-track celebration of his greatest hits.

The series of shows will end on January 24, before he returns on April 14 for a further 17 shows.
