Shakira has hit out at critics of her sexually charged music videos.

The singer has come under fire after the raunchy promo clip for 'Can't Remember To Forget You' - her duet with Rihanna - but she has argued she is not allowing herself to be "objectified".

She told The Independent newspaper: "You see baseball players grabbing each other's asses, and nobody says anything! I don't think that I put myself in any situation in which I am objectified.

"But I do take advantage of, you know, feeling sensual and feeling sexy.

"And I think that is tremendously empowering and is not diminishing in any way. I feel that any woman who is in control, who is in touch with her femininity and sensuality, is a woman that is empowered."

The 'Hips Don't Lie' hitmaker recently admitted that her husband Gerard Pique has banned her from making music videos with other men.

She said: "He's very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women.

"It's more than implied in our relationship that I can't do videos like I used to. It's out of the question - which I like, by the way.

"I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna."
