Sam Smith has admitted that his rise to stardom now has him consciously making an effort and "trying not to go mental".
The singer says that he's worked equally hard on staying grounded as he has on promoting his music since the release of debut album 'In The Lonely Hour' last year.
In a chat with The Observer newspaper he said: "I've spent as much energy this past year trying not to go mental as I have plugging my record. You have to. It's like your body's trying to float away from you. And you're hanging on for dear life."
Fortunately, he's now taking some time off to relax and feels no pressure to instantly produce his sophomore album any time soon, due to the success his first has seen.
"If my first hadn't done very well I would have to be bringing out another towards the end of this year. My team would be panicking, getting me in sessions. But I'm in this beautiful situation. There is no schedule."
