As part of Global James Bond Day today (October 5), Sam Smith revealed his music video for UK number 1 hit single and James Bond theme tune 'Writing's On The Wall', at 00.07am BST.
Music video director and long-term Sam Smith collaborator Luke Monaghan jumped on board to direct the spectacular and atmospheric video which accompanies the Spectre single, with visuals being shot throughout Rome and the film opening with a poignant scene of Union Jack clad coffins, before showing Sam in a variety of locations which will be visited throughout the Spectre movie.
Previously unseen extracts from Spectre can also be seen in the video, including one particular love scene between Daniel Craig's Bond and Monica Bellucci's Lucia, the beautiful widow of an infamous criminal.
'Writing's On The Wall' made history on Friday, October 2, becoming the first ever Bond theme song to hit number 1 on the UK singles charts. Co-written by Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes, the song has received a mixed reaction from Bond fans and critics, but has clearly stirred a huge positive reaction from many.
As the first Bond theme song recorded by a British male solo artist since 1965, 'Writing's On The Wall' is available to stream and download now, ahead of the release of Spectre in the UK on October 26, and in the US on November 6.
