Meghan Trainor thinks of Sam Smith as her "bestie".
The singers recently met one another and Meghan admits they exchanged phone numbers, getting on so well she already considers him to be a close friend.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Meghan said: "I met Sam Smith and he's a lovely, lovely person. He's my new bestie!"
Nominated in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories at the Grammys for her smash hit breakthrough single 'All About That Bass', she's now in London to promote debut album 'Title', to be released next week in the UK.
However the star was disappointed when she heard Sam was in America at the moment, as she hoped to meet up with him during her short British stay.
"I texted him saying 'I'm in your hometown' but he's in Montreal or somewhere doing some shows far, far away."
Speaking at an exclusive Spotify session at their London headquarters, she went on to say she finds it difficult to speak to the British because she feels like people don't understand her.
"I keep realising you don't know the lingo of America... or my swag. I just learned that today."
