Providing statements in court - where Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams are defending themselves against a copyright lawsuit - Thicke has been forced to confess to lying about co-writing his smash hit single 'Blurred Lines'.
In a prior interview with GQ magazine, Robin said both he and Pharrell "wrote the song in about a half hour" and said they took inspiration from the Marvin Gaye tune 'Got To Give It Up' - the one they say they didn't rip off.
Speaking under oath in the deposition Thicke has said he wasn't as involved as he'd put out there, admitting he was 'high on Vicodin and alcohol' whilst Pharrell wrote in the studio.
"I was jealous and I wanted some of the credit... I tried to take credit for it later because [Pharrell] wrote the whole thing pretty much by himself and I was envious of that" the singer revealed.
When asked where he was whilst the song was being made, Thicke said: 'So my recollection is when we made the song, I thought I wanted - I - I wanted to be more involved than I actually was by the time, nine months later, it became a huge hit and I wanted credit.
"So I started kind of convincing myself that I was a little more part of it than I was and I - because I didn't want him - I wanted some credit for this big hit.
"But the reality is, is that Pharrell had the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song."
He continued to speak out about the recording and said he was "lucky" to be in a room with Pharrell, making up the story because he thought it'd help sell records.
And despite his lack of input, he was awarded 18-22% of publishing royalties.
