As a multi-million selling artist and pop icon, Rick Astley has revealed he'll be taking to the road on a UK tour in March and April of 2016, coinciding with the release of his forthcoming album due for release later next year.
With a career spanning nearly three decades, Rick's sold over 19 million records and has a string of eight consecutive top 10 singles to his name.
'Never Gonna Give You Up' is arguably Rick's biggest hit, with the song reaching the top of the UK charts within two weeks of its release back in 1987. From then, the song went to number one in 16 other countries across Europe, Japan, the United States and Australia.
Continuing to dominate the charts across the globe in the two years following, Rick was in the Top 40 every week for the first six months of his career, and took Britain's largest selling single in 1987.
Album 'Whenever You Need Somebody' entered the UK album charts at number one, selling over 15.2 million copies worldwide and making Rick the top-selling British act of the year. A similar trajectory followed in the USA, with Rick becoming one of the few British artists able to crack the market.
Second number one US single 'Together Forever' meant that Rick became a household name, and 'It Would Take A Strong Man' became another top 10 single, before Rick decided to leave the music business.
13 years later and Rick surprised fans with an eight-date tour in 2004, performing classic tracks from Sinatra and The Carpenters to name just two, alongside his own musical catalogue.
A sell-out tour came in 2012, and now Rick is back with his first major UK headline tour since, marking the first time he's appeared in any of the venues he's taking to this time round.
Dates for Rick's upcoming tour are as follows:
- March 31 - Gateshead Sage
- April 1 - Salford Lowry
- April 4 - Edinburgh Queens Hall
- April 5 - Warrington Parr Hall
- April 6 - Birmingham Symphony Hall
- April 8 - London Indigo2
