Ringo Starr at the Grammy Awards
Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr sang together last night at the annual Grammy Awards.
The two surviving members of The Beatles were introduced to the stage at Los Angeles' Staples Center by actress Julia Roberts - who announced they will receive the 2014 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award - and sang 'Queenie Eye', a track from McCartney's latest album 'New'.
The singer sat at a psychedelic-painted piano, with his former bandmate on drums, and gave an upbeat performance which saw the audience - including John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono and McCartney's wife Nancy Shevell - dance along.
Earlier in the evening, Starr had performed 'Photograph' from his 1973 self-titled album backed by a full band and with huge black-and-white pictures projected onto a big screen.
Meanwhile, McCartney picked up two awards, winning Best Music Film for his concert movie 'Live Kisses' and his collaboration with Nirvana rockers Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, 'Cut Me Some Slack', awarded Best Rock Song.
Though the drummer had mentioned on the red carpet he and his former bandmate had played together last week, their last known performances together were in 2010, at Starr's 70th birthday party, and the year before, where they joined forces in New York for a David Lynch benefit show.
The pair - who were joined in the Beatles by Lennon and George Harrison - are expected to mark the group's 50th anniversary of their US debut by taking part in a TV special, 'The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles', which will air next month.
