The Maccabees think Oli Sykes was "right" to make "a point" by trashing Coldplay's table at the NME Awards.
Frontman Orlando Weeks believes Oli jumped on Chris Martin's table to attract attention to his group Bring Me The Horizon and he's sure a band as massive as the 'Hymn For The Weekend' rockers should be cool with it.
Speaking after the incident at the bash - where The Maccabees were named Best British Band - Orlando said: "Surely they [Coldplay] thought as part of their evening someone was going to do something. If anyone can take it [it's Coldplay]. I think it's entirely right to make a point by getting on a table."
And his bandmate Felix White added: "It's impossible to get that angry in that short a space of time. Impossible. So when you watch it, you've got to think it's a pre-conceived thing."
Bring Me The Horizon caused chaos as vocalist Oli leapt on to Coldplay's table during their rendition of 'Happy Song' and started kicking over glasses and bottles with their guitarist Jonny Buckland having to move out of the way to avoid the spillage. The furniture eventually collapsed under the weight of Oli.
Oli insists he only did it so Chris could get the full Bring Me The Horizon experience.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "We were aiming for Yoko Ono! No, not really. Did it look intentional? It wasn't. He said he wanted to hear us so I brought it as close as possible. My sound just wasn't right that's why I went onto Chris Martin's table ... it wasn't a dirty protest."
