One Direction have been named the world's biggest British act, fighting off stiff competition from the likes of Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran.
This is the third year in a row the group have taken the title, and Simon Cowell who signed them to his Syco record label couldn't be happier.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper he said: "I am absolutely delighted and immensely proud that One Direction were the biggest UK act in the world in 2014.
"To accomplish this for a third year in the row is a fantastic achievement - and especially pleasing as this latest album also highlighted the band's skills as songwriters."
Made up of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, the fivesome's success is based on figures from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which has a Global Recording Artist Chart that shows they outsold all other British acts for a third consecutive year, following the release of latest album 'FOUR', which topped the iTunes charts in 85 countries.
Meanwhile, the group are also nominated for two BRIT Awards at tomorrow night's ceremony, in the Best British Group and Best British Video categories.
