The relevation was made by the group's frontman Matt Bellamy, after he responded to a fan on Twitter and said their forthcoming tunes won't get much airplay due to their risky nature.

A fan on the social media website asked: "are rumors about airing the single on the radio true? (sic)", and he replied: "Too offensive for radio...".

He also went on to tease the release of new material by posting links to articles about brainwashing, suggesting the group's lead single is to be titled 'Psycho'.

""Psycho" coming soon... http://science.howstuffworks.com/life/inside-the-mind/human-brain/brainwashing1.htm ... #HumanDrones (sic)", he tweeted.

Quoting another question from a follower, he added: ""@ryleeishaught: @MattBellamy can't tell if you're hinting album themes or just expressing your opinion via social media" Single 1 Theme (sic)."

The band are expected to release the new LP, tentatively named 'Drones' later this year, featuring production from Robert 'Mutt' Lange.

Adding to the confusion around the record, Matt said to one other follower: ""@0Showbiz: @MattBellamy Drones is the first single? Drones drones drones?" #psycho handler, brainwashing us to be become human #drones (sic)."
