Melanie Blatt is said to be back in the studio working on new solo material.
The former All Saints singer, 49, landed five chart-topping singles with the smash 1990s band, including ‘Never Ever’ and ‘Pure Shores’, which featured in the soundtrack to Leonard DiCaprio’s ‘The Beach’ film.
A music insider has now told The Sun she has been “back in the studio and is ready to release her first single in more than a decade”.
The source added: “Mel isn’t a very confident singer and it has taken a lot for her to get back in the studio.
“But she has seen her bandmate Shaznay Lewis do it this year and wants to push herself.
“The plan is for her song with KDA to come out soon and everyone around her is hoping it will encourage her to continue with more music.”
Mel is said to have teamed up with producer KDA for her latest solo effort, after he scored a No1 in 2015 with the song ‘Turn the Music Louder’, a collaboration with Katy B and Tinie Tempah.
The singer’s first push as a solo artist was in 2003 with the single ‘Do Me Wrong’, but it failed to be a hit and her last tune was in 2012, when she sang on DJ Fur Coat’s ‘Fall’s Away’.
Mel formed All Saints with Shaznay Lewis in 1993, with the pair later adding Nicole and Natalie Appleton.
Along with five No 1 singles, the band had two multi-platinum albums and won two Brit awards and an Ivor Novello.
They reformed in 2006 and again in 2013 and Mel has been DJ’ing since leaving the group.
She recently told The Guardian Prince is her music idol and said when asked how she wanted to be remembered: “Just being remembered at all would be great.”
