Following his massive win on The X Factor last year, Matt Terry is gearing up for the release of his debut single from his debut album this Friday, October 13. Titled ‘Sucker For You’, it looks set to be one of this year’s most infectious and memorable hits.
Speaking about the song, Matt said: “We’ve all been in that position when we know a relationship is toxic and not good for us, but sometimes we ignore it and refuse to let go. I wrote this song when I was going through exactly that. The lyrics tell a tale of heartbreak, but the melody isn’t sad or depressing – because I’ve come out the other side and I’m happy now.”
He added of his new material and upcoming debut album: “I’m so excited for people to hear my new material. So far people know me as the guy who won X Factor. But when I look back on this time last year, I can’t quite believe how far I’ve come. I’m so grateful for where I am now, and I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I can’t wait for the next step in my journey.”
Following Matt’s X Factor win, he smashed into the top 3 in the UK charts with his seasonal single ‘When Christmas Comes Around’, written by Ed Sheeran. Then entertaining audiences on the X Factor Tour, he went straight from that into studios to write and record his debut album around the world.
He also broke back into the Top 10 in the UK with his Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul collaboration ‘Subeme La Radio’, making waves and showing exactly why millions fell in love with his talent during his time on The X Factor. Now, with his talent show win in the past and the top of the charts in his sights, we can’t wait to see what happens next.
Matt Terry’s new single ‘Sucker For You’ is released on Friday, October 13.
