Mark Ronson has chosen January as the month to release new album 'Uptown Special'.

The collection is the producer-and-musician's first since 'Record Collection' in 2010, and is to feature acts such as Bruno Mars and Hudson Mohwake.

Talking on BBC Radio 1 about the new music, Mark explained: "The real good stuff on the record came last year when I went out to work with Jeff Bhasker in Venice, out in California, and we started writing some songs and I felt like I had something to say that was not being said."

Unveiling the first single to be taken from the record last week - 'Uptown Funk - he revealed that the inspiration for the Bruno Mars collaboration came from an American roadtrip.

"Jeff Bhasker, one night he was like, 'Yeah we're going to drive through the South and find this singer,' and it just sounded so ridiculous, like it was never going to happen, and we actually did.

"We got in the car and drove through Baton Rouge, Louisiana, New Orleans, Mississippi, Memphis, Little Rock, Chicago, went to all these great churches saw a couple of thousand great singers and found the one girl that we were hearing in our heads, this one amazing singer, Keyonce Starr. She's on the record."

'Uptown Special' will be released on January 26 2015.
