X Factor winner Louisa Johnson is making her big return to the charts next week with the release of her brilliant new single Yes, on which she collaborated with US rapper 2 Chainz. Set to make her mark when it drops on Friday (March 16), the song is written by Camille Purcell alongside Bully, with production from Chris Loco, Goldfingers and Matt Rad.
Having already sold 1.9 million records in the UK alone, Louisa is hoping to add some big numbers to her tally throughout the next few months, and Yes is to her the perfect way to start doing that.
Chatting about the song she says: “As soon as I recorded Yes I knew it had to be a single. It instantly became my favourite song I’ve ever worked on, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. You can’t help but move when you hear this track, I hope everyone is ready!”
Along with her sales, Louisa has also gained over 93 million streams on Spotify alone, with 34 million views also coming from VEVO.
Her debut hit came when she collaborated with Clean Bandit on Tears, breaking the Top 5 in the Official Singles Chart. Next single So Good then climbed into the Top 10, being certified gold and selling over 436,000 copies, before her duet with Olly Murs on Unpredictable provided the sound of summer last year.
Though X Factor is the show that gave her the platform to become a success, she’s not always been comfortable coming from the talent series.
Speaking on This Morning, she previously admitted that it was “a show and the songs you sing aren’t your songs.”
She added: “It’s not necessarily the music you want to make. Forever Young was a dodgy start but I think I got through it with Clean Bandit.”
The true test of longevity however will come with the release of Yes, and we imagine Louisa will be celebrating like never before when it officially drops on Friday. We can’t wait to hear it!
