Lily Allen at NME Awards

Lily Allen doesn't get "mashed" during awards events anymore, after becoming a mother.

The 'Air Balloon' singer was a winner at the NME Awards in London on Wednesday night (26.02.14), taking home the Best Solo Artist prize but she insisted she wouldn't be celebrating by hitting the booze because she is more responsible now she's a parent to daughters Ethel, two, and 15-month-old Marnie.

Speaking on the red carpet at the event at the O2 Brixton Academy, she told BANG Showbiz: "It's great to be here, it's a cool ceremony. I think all awards ceremonies have different things going for them and this is the one to get mashed at, which I won't be doing by the way as a mother of two. I will enjoy watching other people doing it ... Maybe I'll just have a little gin."

Lily - who is married to Sam Cooper, who joined her at the ceremony - was nominated for three prizes, Best Solo Artist and Best Video and Best Track for 'Hard Out Here'.

The 28-year-old singer was shocked to be victorious in the Best Solo Artist category, beating Lorde, Jake Bugg, Sir Paul McCartney, Kanye West and David Bowie to the honour, because she hasn't even released her new album 'Sheezus' yet.

Speaking before her win, she said: "To win Best Solo Artist is stupid because I haven't released an album. But it's lovely to be here."
