Lady Gaga has recorded a track with Florence Welch on her new album.
The 30-year-old singer penned a song for her as-yet untitled LP and when she decided she wanted another female vocalist to join her over the music she couldn't think of anyone more perfect than Florence, also 30.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on UK station BBC Radio 1, the 'Poker Face' hitmaker said: "There's a feature on the album that I think you will be very excited about. Me and Florence Welch did a duet together. I started to work on an idea for a song that I really wanted to do with a girl. You'll see why when you see what the song is about. I just thought, 'Who do I want to sing with?' She's really to me, if not the best, one of the greatest vocalists in the world. She's incredible."
The new album is Gaga's first on her own since 2013's 'Artpop' and follows 'Cheek to Cheek', the collaborative record she released in 2014 with Tony Bennett.
Gaga appeared on the show to unveil her new single 'Perfect Illusion' and revealed the lyrics on the track deal with the pressures of social media and the "many fake things" in the world.
Speaking about the track, she said: "People feel pressured to live up to that perfect illusion in their real lives. This is about accepting that and letting go. I'm not saying not to use your phone, I'm not that crazy. I think social media is great. But there's also a lot of things that are on the internet that aren't reality ... So this song is about raging against it and letting it go. It's about wanting people to re-establish that human connection."
Gaga also revealed she composed 'Perfect Illusion' with producer Mark Ronson and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker and she wrote it on an old fashioned typewriter.
She spilled: "Kevin flew to us from Australia and he came with this idea, that was the beginning of a song called Illusion. I work on a typewriter and we would bounce new lyrics back and forth.
"We stripped everything away. Changed the melody, shifted it. I sat at piano, Kevin was on guitar, Mark was on the bass."
