Late Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain's birthday will be celebrated in his native Aberdeen, Washington annually thanks to the launch of a new day in his honour.
Town mayor Bill Simpson and the city council have declared 20 February will forever be Kurt Cobain Day.
A proclamation reads: "Aberdeen residents may justifiably take pride in the role our community played in the life of Kurt Cobain and the international recognition our community has gained from its connections with Kurt Cobain and his artistic achievements."
The Smells Like Teen Spirit singer has already been honoured on the city's Welcome To Aberdeen sign, which bears the title of Nirvana's Come As You Are.
This year (14) marks the 20th anniversary of Cobain's death, and it also coincides with Nirvana's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in April (14).
