The Kooks insist that they have zero "beef" with One Direction.
The indie band's frontman Luke Pritchard and Liam Payne were involved in a Twitter clash last year after a fan tweeted Luke telling him she was also a 'Directioner' and he told her he'd rather her not be a fan of The Kooks if she also loved the 'Midnight Memories' hitmakers.
His band mate Hugh Harris told onedirectionjoy.com: "Do we have beef with One Direction? No ... we love them, they're lovely people. I think what Luke was speaking out against was more the mechanisms of pop music."
Speaking at the Smirnoff Mix It campaign launch at Tanner & Co in South London, he added: "I don't think he meant anything bad on the actual people. I think the process of creating pop music these days is a little disgusting and I think that's what he was trying to point out."
During the row on Twitter Luke said: "How can you be a fan of something that has no life? I honestly feel so depressed that you are into Kooks.
"Do not like what I do. I'd rather anyone who likes One Direction never follow me. You literally have no idea how upset I am."
Liam then took to Twitter to slam this singer and told him One Direction - also made up of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson - were fans of The Kooks.
He wrote: "Sad thing is @lukekook we are/where fans of your band, nice one man verbally attacking your own fans how very rock and roll of you ;) (sic)"
Luke later admitted he had been drinking and apologised, writing: "This whole thing now has gone too far. Gonna say I have my opinions but meant no offence, that's why I took down them there tweets. Love."
